The Biomolecular Sciences Institute was founded in 2014 to promote and facilitate collaborative interdisciplinary research in the biomolecular and biomedical arenas.

Areas of Research

  • Infectious diseases
  • Cancer
  • Neurological disorders

Research Themes

  • Drug discovery
  • Biomarkers and biosensors
  • DNA damage and repair
  • Genomic function and stress response
  • Mosquito-borne disease

We’re promoting and facilitating collaborative research in biomolecular science fields that represent areas of strength for FIU faculty members in multiple colleges and departments.

We strive for excellence in fundamental research to impact human health in areas that include predictive biomarkers for health and wellness, better targeting medicine, and control of infectious diseases including those that are mosquito-borne.

Faculty Researchers

Our collaborative consortium works to better understand biomolecular and biomedical challenges and discover solutions.
